Its a 2005, 55 plate Volpete. My dad used to have a '02 plate S40 and he recalls there being something you could do with switches n stuff to turn them off! I think i'll have a trip to volvo dealer up here tomorrow n see how much the bulbs are and enquire about turning them off!

hi watson

i bought those short of a year ago and had no problem
http://www.powerbulbs.com/product_detail.asp?prod=25 - Philips Blue Vision Ultra H7 4000K
http://www.powerbulbs.com/product_detail.asp?prod=9 - Philips Blue Vision 9005 (HB3) 4000K Xenon/HID effect

i would not go and buy Halford ones as they are quite poor quality comparing to those i have bought

It's my understanding that the DRL's are a safety feature and therefore if the stealer disables that feature then your insurance could be null and void.

If Volvo say you can't turn them off by not providing a switch that actually does anything then you just can't.

Consult your insurance company first.

I'm forever forgetting to turn the side lights off if I've switched to sidelights. I'm surprised something like a Volvo hasn’t got a buzzer warning tone to say you have left your lights on...? Is this on all S40/V50/C70/C30 and can you get it installed?

I was talking to Gatos the other day about this my Xenon ballasts have a life of 2000 hours and my lights are on all of the time, so at 10 hours a week driving they will last 4 years.
