Red face V70 D5 ATF additive?

Hello, looking at upgrading to a D5 (2005) facelift with the euro3 engine and Aw42 autobox, took car out for a test run, all good, smooth changes.

But just as I was closing the deal it was mentioned that the ATF had been flushed and replaced (recently) and with the addition of some ZX1?

Has anyone got any experience of this being added to autoboxes? Currently still making my mind up as the rest of the car was mint!

Thank you.

Probably not worth Goggling as it's so likely snake oil.

If the stuff proves to be deleterious to our transmissions, 2 drain and fills would be enough to dilute it to insignificance.

Shifting OK you say? Be nice to learn who did the work so you could ask 'em what fluid they used.

Straying from proscribed juice has always been claimed to be deadly.

Good luck with your decision

Thanks for reply, going to follow up today, the correct ATF was used but with a small addition of this ZX1 stuff which I believe is a friction reducer for metal surfaces?

Might be safest to walk away but all was very well together.....

Its like moly slip it supposedly re surfaces worn components. most likely to cause slips. so if not doing now don't worry I would change atf just for peace of mind. my now written off xc70 was shunting when I bought it 3 years ago. I flushed oil through 20 ltr drum added some dr tranny and the box was faultless.

How many miles on it ? You can always re-flush it for peace of mind, but the fact they added that stuff is most likely that once fully warmed (a good 20 min driving in summer time) the transmission will start to act up
