Default C70 central locking

The latest addition to the fleet is a W reg C70 T5, lovely motor but has a few issues. The central locking works, however it doesn't actually unlock the drivers door, you have to use the manual key. It sounds as if something is going on when you press unlock on the fob, but to no avail.

Any ideas guys?

Ben.

Is there noise from the driver's door lock area specifically when you operate the remote? Does the little pip go up and down? I'd hazard a guess that the lock is disconnected either mechanically or electrically, or it's just plain bu&&ered.

If you take the door card off (not difficult) then you'll be able to see if the lock mechanism and it's electrical connections.

At worst it'll mean sourcing a replacement lock mechanism. Not too expensive and (if it's much the same as a V70 or S70) not too difficult to fit.

You'll be able to retain the existing key.

Cheers

Jack

Hi there, I have had this issue and just fixed it.

You need a new door lock actuator. About £25 secondhand or £200 new!!

I got mine from someone on here scrapping a car.

You'll need to take the door card off. There are clips on YouTube showing you how. Getting the actuator out is a bit fiddly as is putting it back in as you have to line the key lock back into a hole. Easier if you unbolt the door handle

It's all pretty easy once you know how. If you need, I can set out in more detail exactly what you need to do.

First step is to find someone with an actuator that you can buy, to fit the front drivers side door.

Starting point might be to google Robert DIY, he is an American guy who has YouTube video about getting the door card off and also replacing the actuators.

I can give more detail if needed.

Forgot about this thread! The little pip goes up and down when you click the fob.

From what I've read it does sound like a fubbard actuator. I'll get the card off this weekend and make sure it's all attached first.

Thanks for the help!

If its like the 850 door lock this is the video you need
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKIsZmuFt5k

The alloy actuator rod (the dull brass coloured shaft with the two tabs on one end) shown in the clip at around 2mins 20secs commonly breaks and prevents the key from rotating the lock barrel - I got several replacement rods from a local breakers yard when he was breaking a couple of 850s. They are interchangeable between the N/S and O/S of the car.

The rod just pulls out of the handle end and the replacement slots in - takes less than 30 seconds once the lock is out of the door.

Hi there,
Thanks for that, Unfortunately that's Not my problem..lol.

Mine is the case of the Remote Fob will Lock / unlock will unlock All the doors.

But will only Unlock the Passenger Door & the Boot, But NOT the DRVs door.

The key works fine.

If I use the Fob to lock the car, Everything locks and the Alarm is set. I try to use the fob to unlock, but No Joy.
I then have to Unlock it using the key which in turn activates my alarm, pi**ing off my neighbours..lol.
cheers
Joe.
