Default C70 T5 knocking

Morning guys.

I bought my C70 with a knock at the front, it knocks when deselecting a gear and then selecting another. I changed the gearbox torque link underneath for a polyurethane version which I thought was the culprit, but it was not! Sounds gearbox side, is there another mount over there?

Regards,
Ben.

Hope I'm wrong ...

What about mileage of your car ?

On my V70 2.4 D manual gearbox , I have the same sound ... 150 000 miles ... But the gear change is smooth ...

Only 96k, I'm really hoping it's one of the hydraulic engine mounts at the back, I'll get under it tonight and have a poke around.

Is the top engine to bulkhead mount in good condition? Even slight deterioration will cause a knocking sound amplified by the bulkhead. Very easy fix.

The large one on top has been replaced with a polyurethane one, is there another bush where it bolts to the bulkhead itself?

Think there is a very small one at the bulkhead, also check wheel-nuts, driveshaft bolt/s and driveshaft c clamp (although thats on the offside).

Yes, there is. Look at the back of the arm that goes towards the bulkhead. A round flat rubber bush in an aluminium surround -horizontal and partly hidden under a lip in the bulkhead. Nowhere near as large as the front bush, but can be prone to failure and very easy to overlook. A three bolt fixing to the bulkhead, will need the plastic trim panel removing to get to all the nuts.

I'll give it a look over, thanks for the help!
