Is it possible to make my 1.6 Diesel sound any louder?

Get a loud exhaust sound track on CD and turn the volume up.

There's a few easy ways to make your car louder

- buy a petrol
- Fit a k&n panel filter
- I'm sure there's a stainless exhaust for your car
- Have you local mechanic remove the rear box and weld a length of pipe in it's place
-Have your local exhaust outfit make you up a one-off stainless exhaust
- Remove the undertray and engine top cover, drive with windows down

Hope this reply is better than a few of the suggestions above

tie empty baked bean cans to a piece of string and tie the other end of the string to your car. That will make it louder.

Louder in what way?
I hope you have never owned a Corsa with a cherry bomb grinding the speed bumps in McDonald's car park!

Diesel engines make a very different sound to petrol's and as such are difficult to make them sound sporty. Straight-piping the exhaust for the full length is the only way to make it 'loud' but beware that the sound will be awful and full of turbo whistle, in fact it will sound a lot like an old skip lorry with a short exhaust.

The reason behind the noise (or lack of) is that diesel burns more slowly and progressively rather than petrol which goes 'bang' upon ignition.
