Hi also it can be done with the obd port using MPPs, if you wire the ecu so you can put the ecu in to boot mode,

But yes shark , mte, Rica have there own softloaders
To load new bin/hex files in to the ecu,
If his was done on the bench using boot mode, or EPROM
Programmer, it can still be put back to standard, if they backed up the standard file ,they would have done as they
Would have done the changes to the original file that they
Took from the ecu ,as you can not just flash a of the shelf file in this ecu as it holds other data for the car,
Dave

I'm an OBD man myself, rica's own tuning box if you do it yourself is via ODB also

although in this instance, I feel removing the map and diagnosing the problem first would be best, i'm surprised someone would map the car knowing there is an issue with the performance already?

We've had customers who'd had the car mapped because of a loss of power thinking it will fix problems.

COULD someone on this thread speak in ENGLISH (not techno speak) so that the rest us plebs have a clue what you're talking about, it may be relevant to other members BUT I don't have a clue!

Also worth checking is the intercooler. As likely with the remap boost has increased?
This may also account for performance issues before remap. Just one to check as i have just repalced mine .

Thanks for all the replies so far and apologies for a rather poorly worded post in the first place.

I had always planned to remap and chose now due feeling that I was far too used to the standard one now. The remap was not an attempt to try and mask another underlying issue.

I simply put it down to becoming used to the car over the past few years. Especially given the power and torque figures available on cars today.

The car was mapped by a Shark dealer, which I am happy to report was a very impressive service start to finish and resulted in a very smooth running car afterwards..... The car still runs well under less spirited driving and returns 50mpg average on a tank.

At the moment, I'm suspecting that the map has just shortened the life of a component quicker than a standard map would have.

The complete intake hose should hopefully be delivered for the weekend.

Until this is replaced, my concern relates to the PCV heater connector oiling up. I cleaned the lower turbo pipe and and connector a couple of nights ago, but this already seems to be getting misted up with oil again.

Does anyone else suffer from this ?

I'll try and get a picture up this morning.

As for the air filter, the car has a full history by Volvo and specialists, so won't be particularly old. The car is due a service in the next 1500 miles, so it may well be due for replacement again. I will check the state of it while changing the intake pipe.
