Default Amazon: interior door pulls, how do they attach?

Hey folks,

Mysteriously, one end of the driver-side interior door handle has come loose, I pried the door car back but couldn't see how it attaches. Can anyone explain if/how I can fit another screw/clip without having to dismantle the door or pay for someone to do it?

Sven,

Do you mean the black plastic pull handles?

If so, they are attached with Phillips screws - if you feel under the handle/get on your knees and have a look, you'll see where the screws go.

With luck, the screw will still be in situ... just loose. Tighten it up and you should be good to go.

You don't need to remove the door card or anything else to install the screws. In fact, the plastic handles are just about the last thing you attach when re-assembling the door trim.

Cool

I expect you have this sorted now but the screws are pretty long and go in at an upward angle. They have to screw into the metalwork of the door. Hazy memory says that there are nylon inserts in the door holes to help line everything up. Maybe wrong on that.

Steel fast nuts clipped onto the door frame.

Thanks, folks, I'll have a look in the bottom of the door, to see if the screw just fell out before ordering one from Brookhouse!

The screws will drop into the car but the internal clips might have dropped off after the screw loosened.

Ah! *penny drops* so there's a clip in the door card, then the screw goes into the bottom of the handle and through that? So where do I get the clip?

On my Amazon, there are nylon (or similar) fittings in the metal door and the screw fastens into that through the door card. They are a bugg*r to get lined up because as Derek says, they point upward and it is a bit difficult to see what you are doing. There should be a metal frame inside the door handle/pull and that can sometimes pull out of the rigid PU foam underneath the PVC covering. That may be what has happened to yours - it certainly did with one of mine.
I don't think the nylon inserts are available so a scrapper is the only likely source.
