Default Engine Oil for D5 2006 Model

Hi all,

What oil is the recomended grade for my S60 D5 (185)?
Its due an oil service but the local stealer wants £300 for the pleasure!!

Found a decent mechanic who did my brakes a few months ago and he said if I can get him the oil he'll do the job for me.

Thanks in advance everyone

The recommended oil is Castrol SLX longtec for volvocars 0w/30 A5/B5 specification , Volvo insist on this grade for the warranty period as this oil was developed for the D5 . you can use another make but stick to 0w/30 A5/B5 quality . Volvo say 5w/30 is not suitable ..

normaly 6.5 litres but after the rising oil level recall you should have had , a sticker under the bonnet indicates the new level is 2/3 up the dipstick ie 5.8 litres ...

Any recommended supliers for the oil then?? Most local places only stock 0w30 oils in 4litre volumes.
Thanks again

your volvo dealer can help you , but other places should sell litre bottles , you will need a 4 litre and 2 x one litres of course .

http://www.nielsencdg.co.uk/acatalog...ngine_Oil.html

Try these people - I find them to be very good..........my local dealer used something like 'Total' (French stuff) but I'd rather use Castrol.
Hope this helps,
Nobby

Unfortunatly this is not a high enough specification it is A3/B3 ,
you need A5/B5

If you PM Rufe on here he supplies the proper volvo branded up stuff. Bought a 4L and a 1L for £54.

Cheers
