Body/Trim: - S80 Peeling roof rail strip repair

Hello, thought I noticed bird muck on my 1998 S80 roof rail strip, stupidily decided to scrape it off and a very big bit off plastic stripped off the rail leaving marked paint behind, looks like it is starting on other parts of rails. Has anyone any idea how to repair, make better, fix or is it possible to replace rails, car is silver.

Hi Ray,
MIne have not stripped, but they have gone matt and looks grotty.
I have seen here other members with similar problems, some sprayed them black.
I believe that new ones are not too expensive, and in some models come pre-painted.
