Thanks for the info luckily just down the road is a volvo wreckers/parts shop so I'm gonna go look there for the flywheel. I don't really want to convert to FT bits as that means 3 types of volvo parts I have to look for if anything breaks. Here's the engine I bought http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=444383114
I haggled with him and swapped the Power Steering pump for the intercooler. |

You need to go on www.volvo300mania.com lots of conversions and tips there.
In short the flywheel and clutch usually will need the most research. You need to match the ignition sensor hole type for your ignition compyter type with the right plate that can drive the 360 drive shaft. You cannot use dual mass flywheels, they are too big for the 360 bell housing. Engine mounts vary - you can put it on the standard mounts but the turbo is very close and the oil drain needs rerouting, it may touch occasionally or alot. Also it varies whether you need to relocate the distributor, although maybe the ET is ok I don't know. MK3 360s can take the B230FT with the distributor at the back, earlier ones can't without butchering the airbox. |

I'm gonna be using the 360 mounts but the one by the turbo will either be from a 740 or 760. I'm not sure what would be classed as an early 360 mine's from 86 if that helps. I went onto 300mania a couple of days ago and looked at a 360 B230ET conversion some great info there. Thanks for the advice. I hope to do this conversion at the end of March or begining of April (I get my restricted licence at the end of March hopefully so I will be able to insure a turbo) |

Oh yeah does anyone know where to get a new gearbox seal for a 360? Mine's gone and is leaking gearbox oil. I might aswell fix that while doing the conversion.

Which seal do you need? All the main ones are shared with a normal M47, so are still available (or were last time I looked). The diff is what usually leaks though - are you sure it's not that?
I was suggesting you could swap to a complete LH2.4 setup (flywheel, wiring loom, ECUs, etc), but now you've found a flywheel, that sounds a lot easier. Shipping ain't gonna be cheap though cheers James

My engine finally arrived it came as a complete engine with intercooler, turbo, ECU, ECU loom and he left the power steering pump on so if anyone needs a power steering pump or air conditioning condenser I have them. I've taken them off because I don't need them. When he started it up there was no bearing noises and when at temp he reved it and it was fine. During transporting 4 people lifting it managed to split an oil hose and chip the concrete floor in the garage it wheighs a ton (not literally) so my back has been hurting for a couple of days. I need to get a new hose, I'll get all new engine seals and the rotor arm is broken but he gave me a replacement. My brother's mate owns an engine and gearbox rebuilding garage so he can get me the seals cheap from Australia. I need to rebuild the 360 gearbox because the bearings are going. |

Can you see where exactly it's leaking from, and which sort of fluid it's leaking? If it's thin and relatively odourless (could be light brown or bright red, depending on what it's been filled with), that's box oil. If it's thicker and smells horrible, it's probably diff oil.
cheers James

Never seen that before!
You probably need to replace part number 947705, the seal for that shaft. It's the same one used on 940s (although the shaft exits the opposite end of the gearbox on 940s!), so should still be available. cheers James
