B230FK swap into NA 940
Hi there.
I found a B230FK with a ported 531 head, Enem V16 camshaft and OEM head gasket on Loctite 3020 for cheaper than +T'ing my B230FB would cost. Oh, and it made 270whp on a 19T I want to swap the engine into my 1991 940 GL. The guy who built it was running it on a standalone ECU and that's what I want to do as well. I'm getting a M90L2 with the engine as well. There are a couple of things missing on the engine though. The intake and exhaust manifold as well as the turbo, the alternator. About the manifolds: Are there any aftermarket high-flow ones? Or will I be better off with making custom ones? Which turbo (price to value) will be better, the 19T or 15G? Will the alternator from my FB work on the FK? What clutch should I get for aroung 300hp? Will the NA clutch with a kevlar disc hold up? What fuel pump should I get for it? I assume the NA one won't be efficient enough. Does the M90 bolt right into the Redblock or do I need an adapter? What driveshaft do I need to connect the M90 with the stock 940 diff? The injectors on the engine are stock FK ones are they good enough? What radiator and intercooler will be best for this setup? Thanks, cheers. |

A lightly ported 90+ turbo manifold is plenty capable of 300bhp, as is the stock inlet manifold.
You won't see 300bhp with a 15g but it makes a nice daily, for the price of a 19T you'd be better off with something like a GT28, won't be a bolt in affair but gives more headroom. Yes all the alternators are the same I believe. Walbro 255 pump. So long as it's an M90 from a redblock yes it'll fit. Manual driveshaft. Injectors won't be big enough, you'll need some blue or green giants. Stock radiator and intercooler will work but a custom front mount is better. |

What flywheel did it come with? Dual Mass or dog dish solid?
I'd expect it is the 240mm dual mass if it was 2.3 turbo. They are quite robust but not sure what the current wisdom is for 300BHP. |

So a driveshaft from a manual 940 with a M90. The one from a M47 won't fit? |
