Default XC70 D5 Fuel capacity

Inadvertently started to top up ¾ full tank with about 10l petrol. Realising what I had done stopped and called a specialist firm. Although they had told us they knew why to do to empty dual tank there didn’t seem to be any access to the second tank. Added 2 litres diesel switched on engine and then sucked out fuel to nearly empt. The tank is supposed only to hold 68 litres so I was surprised when fuel pump got to full at 72 litres.

I got some odd fluctuations in initial readings when we got on the rod and then miles to empty tank settled down.

All seems to be working OK but is the capacity more than 68 litres or is the pump wrong?

Sure my diesel xc70 is 70 litres, but that is the tank, the filler pipe will hold more.
My landrover can hold 20 litres in the filler pipe on top of the 90 in the tank.

Paul.

72 from dead-empty seems about right

Thanks. Hopefully I can rest easy that there is no petrol left then and I’ve driven 37 miles without incident. I was persuaded to allow some expensive additive to be put in but since read in handbook that no additives should be used!
