One good thing came after yesterday app issue i got Volvo on Call pin to reconnect car to app wherever i will need in the future

I have to say that although I love my car, the infotainment has been useless. Hardly any journey has been possible without buffering interruptions for Spotify and Internet radio and I sometimes wonder what the point of the expensive B&W speakers is when even a strong signal for the built in SIM card doesn’t work. The fact that they have rolled an app before it’s ready is another example of tech shambles. Going to be listening to next Wednesday’s tech update with interest to see if they are going to raise their game.

The BMW IX may be pig ugly but the tech seems on a different planet !

I've been streaming my music for the last 4 years via the music apps in Android Auto. It's always been good, and no buffering at all. I've not used the Spotify app directly in the car though

And the new VoC app today said my car is pre-conditioning, and I've not asked for it. Had to go and check, and sure enoguh it wasn't preconditioning.

My personal experience with Spotify in the car has been very good. I have B&W and have set Spotify to stream at the highest data rate, and it is quite possible to do a full journey without a single buffer. A few years ago it was terrible, and barely usable, but recently I have found it very good. I live in a rural area of north east England, and many of our trips and in relatively rural areas, up into the North York Moors etc, where Spotify behaves very well. Another regular journey is 150 miles over the North Wales, again we can do the entire journey listening to Spotify, with little or no 'in track' buffering.

Agree, BMW's tech looks way ahead in terms of features and appearance, but I'm not sure on a day to day basis that I'd get much more from the BMW system than I do from the Volvo. While Volvo's no longer looks the slickest, it actually does everything I want it to do, and does it very well. I like the remote features, I generally always use my phone to set Sat Nav destinations, I find the traffic info on the map pretty accurate and I love the sound system.

Thanks for the interesting responses.

I’m optimistic for the Volvo future in this area. The next gen XC90 will have serious processing power and the Android system premiered in the Polestars is awesome. So clunky apps and software glitches should disappear when they’ve farmed out to the experts.

all. FYI I opened the app just now and noticed the image of the car on the home screen is now correct for my car, i.e. right hand rather than left hand drive and correct interior and exterior colour.

The app hasn't been updated, still v5.1.0 (on iOS).

I reverted to the old app and now the car won't start remotely!

The unlock functions seems to work.

I've bounced backwards and forwards between the apps several time, but my remote start still works fine. Just tested it and confirmed it does start correctly.
