Default New diesel pump - does it need calibrating?

Hi, when I brought my car the previous owner had fitted a new diesel pump. I've asked a few times why my car could be smoking, 2.0 diesel black cloud on low revs hard throttle, and I'm wondering if this could be a cause.

Is it possible the pump needs calibrating or is it just a straight swap into the car and the pump manufacturers calibrate them in factory? Thanks for any help.

I've been checking for boost leaks etc, but looking at other causes as I can't find any issues.
