Default Glow Plug Relay Location

Hi all, long time lurker first time poster.

I'm confused a bit as using the dice lately I've had some electrical hiccups, mostly all cured by a new battery apart from the engine warning and the glow plug relay causing mayhem.

The car is starting, running fine and I've just received a new relay. Now according to the Haynes on the 80KHW D4164T engine (Which I believe to have) this is located in the under-bonnet fuse box, which can be pulled from position.

It is not there, hence my post I guess and I believe I'm going to have to pull the lights and bumper off and it will be located there. I just wanted some clarification from more experienced mechanics before I go ahead, and, I presume I may be using the dice not to my advantage and that should inform me where it is?

Thank you

Should be located under the left headlamp tray of the chassis behind the bumper, so yes bumper does have to come off.
I can do it in sub 10 minutes, but just take your time if it's the first time and if your car has headlamp washer jets be particularly careful lifting them up with equal pressure on the front and back edge.
A pry tool kit advised.

Ok, bit of an update (Only had today to look at the problem in depth), still can't locate the relay. Images here show the bumper removed and on both sides no relay is there. I did this to make sure as I think I'm going a bit insane trying to fix this, any further ideas?

Default Relay Found!

On the 110HP D4164T 80Kwh engine. The relay is in the fuse box, next to the battery, it's brown. Replaced and the error is still there. The DICE won't clear the Red ECM-0380 Glow plug relay Faulty signal.

With that info I've searched on the forums here, how would I clean / where is the relay located? There is a relay that is slack and wrapped in tape attached to the battery too, I presume this is for the DPF filter. If I were to guess, the relay is under the engine shield on the top left of the engine bay?

Thanks in advance.

In a 16v 1.6D it is absolutely in the fusebox in the engine bay. I replaced mine a while ago. The only brown relay in the fuse box.

If you've replaced that and the error persists than it's almost certain that one or more of your glow plugs have failed. They cost about a tenner each and I replaced all 4 and the same error went away immediately.

Hi I'm currently struggling with this same issue with my 2008 Volvo C30 1.6D, got a new relay coming in the next few days as that is the cheaper fix of the 2 but if the issue persists I have a decent Volvo specialist who will replace my glow plugs, I was wondering if your car went into limp mode with this error as mine is sluggish on acceleration and won't rev over 3k rpm
