Default 1800E VIN Plates

There are 2 plates under my bonnet, I know one's the vehicle type and the various colour - trim codes, it's the other one I'm curious about.
It doesn't correspond to the chassis number, is it engine number?
Thank you.
David.

it's the body number. The cars did not leave the factory in the same order the bodies were manufactured so the two never match up
