V60 future rot problems? Preventative maintenance...
Having just removed the inner nearside wheel arch liner, I found the inside of the wing to be crammed with wet muck where it joins the plastic sill skirt. There is a foam type fitted insert to stop any crud getting further inside the wing and sill but even that had mud behind it.
Left to sit there, it will surely lead to rot in the future but saying that, my car is over 8 years old and there was no sign of any. It is all now cleared out and I applied a large amount of polish to help protect it. Next weekend I will remove the liner on the other side and do the same and also check any holding areas on the rears. If you plan on keeping your car for years it may be worth a couple of hours of your time removing it. Although with the slow demise of diesels, I may just be wasting my time!
