Default V50 nivomats

Hello

I bought myself a V50 few days ago. I took it with knowledge that rear shocks must be replaced.
Never thought that i have to deal with nivomats on V50!!
Can i replace nivomats with regular ones? I know that P2 volvos and even older ones are just "bolt on" solutions in either way.
There are so many videos and threads about nivomats, but never on S40/V50. I know that springs must be replaced but what about lower bolt?
21mm on nivomat and 15mm on standard shock. Would it even fit??

Thanks!

Bit late reply because of my absence, but did you get sorted? I remember reading a lot on nivos when I got my car 3y ago and ended up in conclusion that for P1 platform there is no viable replacement/aftermarket solution, or atleast I havent came across any.
I also ended up with knowledge that I DIDNT have nivomats afterall, damaged bump protectors and some confusion in bulild plate made Volvo dealership think those are actually Nivos (in fairness it did look similar for my untrained eye aswell) so just double check you have nivos 100%.

Hi, sorry for my late reply. Got it sorted. I surely did have nivos, but not anymore
In Estonia, even the official Stealer, or any other Volvo workshop did not have experience in this case.
As Nivo "wheel knuckle" had lower shock attached with M16 threaded bolt i had to buy second hand wheel knuckles with normal, M12 bolt thread.
Why i did this rebuild?

Nivo shocks x2 - 1200€ tot.
Top nivo mounts x2 400€ tot.

Crazy prices. So what i had to do:

Second hand wheel knuckles x2: 40€
Normal KYB shocks: 100€ pair +top mounts 7€ per piece
New non-nivo springs: 40€ pair
All control arms and end links and bushing: 220€
Wheel alignment: 50€

Did this work by myself(exept wheel alignment), one weekend @garage and all good now.
Control arms and bushing was "just to be sure". I did not have to replace them but now i know that i have brand new rear axle.

Im not sure and i did not had courage to try M16 to M12 thread reducer. Maybe it would be quick fix? I will never find out

Fair play to you, well done! Atleast its an official confirmation it can be done with a bit of effort and proper parts.
hows the car handling now?

When i still had bad nivos, it was just floating waterbed, after swap it was dangerous - every little bump on turns, car wanted to go sideways. Would have been dangerous in winter conditions.
Wheel alignment made everything perfect.
Feels not too soft, not too harsh.
Wifey also approved this car after fix as it has many times better maneuverability if i compare it with my previous P2 S60.

Thank you for your input and interest in this case!

I hope this topic will help someone to save some money in the future.
