Whoa!!!
I had no idea its that expensive in the US.. As for now I've found a pair of sahs OEMs for roughly £150. True, they come "naked", so I'd still have to buy the spring seats and whatnot.. Edit here: Actually, roughly £180 for that set from your link isn't bad.. Isn't bad at all... I wonder how's shipping to UK.. End of edit. But.. These links tell me that there are full kits available, so I don't have to buy each bit separately.. And there's kit numbers at least for struts.. Thank you! PS: what I'll do, I think, is that in few days I will compile a list of parts and the best deals I can find. Then post them here, maybe someone will know better ones

Might be better off buying separately (so you can return them) as the spring seats of my '02 were completely brand new looking at 162K.
Also, the Sachs SuperTourings I bought were quite blah feeling. |

its not just the shipping from the usa but the customs duty, and post handily fee, not worth doing for normal car parts you can get from anywhere in the uk,

I forgot about taxes... At this moment I'm looking at these bits. Be wary as the 2nd and 3rd kits don't mention manufacturer and they're quite cheaply priced.
You get what you pay for. Got any friends in Paris? If so I can bring my 2 control arms from my '02 with me and you can have bushings inserted before you do the job. For you....£0. I have no control if the customs people take 'em from me. |

Unfortunately no, no friends in Paris..
And no means to insert bushes either- if I could do that, I'd be buying bushes only already But thanks for offer. I am wary of these first two- I have no idea what are they. Thus my remark that I may not be buying these things, but something I yet hope to find. I don't even know will I be buying any parts on eBay, even. There's time. First things first: empty the loft, sell what can be sold (it was only occupying space in there anyway), find out the budget.

Spring seats and other parts recommedations
Regarding spring seats, this video is mandatory.
For other parts check out this one. A good rule of thumb: if you cannot afford OEM, buy Lemförder (ball joints, control arms, drop links). Two years ago I had to replace my one year old aftermarket spring seats. I bit the bullet and went for OEM. I have been using Sachs shock absorbers for a couple of years. The front ones are still going strong, but I had to replace the rear ones two years ago. Bilstein B4's are also recommended.
