Default Map updates on an iPad

Does anyone use an iPad usb c running iOS 13? Can you use an iPad to download maps even? The options are windows or Mac , with the iPad being neither would the map option work?

It is not possible to use an iPad to download maps. The map update process downloads a Mac/Windows application which is then used to download the maps to the Mac/PC. The download application will not run on an iPad.

There is also a problem on a Mac now as Volvo has not updated the download app now to 64 bit which the latest Mac OS supports .

While that has been true up until now, it is possible that the latest iPad Pro running iPad OS can do so. It now has a more conventional filesystem and can apparently write to an SD card using the card reader or to a USB flash drive. So I can’t see why the map update can’t be downloaded to an iPad and transferred to a flash drive to be installed in a car.

Someone is bound to try this over the coming months.

I have the latest iPad Pro with USB-C and you can download files and write them to a USB device. The problem is that the Sensus application that downloads the maps only runs on Macs and Windows PCs. I've just downloaded the application to my iPad but browsers just see the file as data and will not run it.

Thanks , I’m thinking about getting a Pro and if this worked it would have been another reason to put the laptop away.

You need a proper OS, i.e MacOS or Windows

You could always get a productivity orientated tablet like the Surface Pro (Go to a lesser extent) device which would works as tablet and a laptop replacement rather than a crippled device like an iPad which work mostly as "consumption device"
