One of a quick CAD drawing I knocked up to check all my measurements for the slots and what not where correct. That's how the plates will be, but with the bent up parts as In the previous photos.

This is what the strut brace end plates will be. Plus a extra bit which I will weld on for the triangulation bars to weld to. And also to give it overall more strength. See previous page cardboard template.

Got my prototype brace made. Still need to jig it. But they'll be £135 for the full brace, or £75 for the single bar without bulkhead triangulation. U can use the single bar with Gt braces if u already have them or my Gt braces if u like.
Both plus £15 for p&p So £150 and £90 all in. Let me know if u will be wanting a either in the new year as I'll be placing a order for the end plates soon |

I'm 95% curious 4% interested and that other 1% ?
Is any realignment or similar needed because of unbolting the strut tops to fit the brace? I take it the braces can be painted as one chooses? What nature of handling improvement would the single or full brace give? I'm not a fast driver. But more surefootedness is generally a good thing. Would the car be more surefooted, for example if one encounters an unusual bend/camber/&c. ? Would the car be more assured such that a passenger might be less likely to ask to slow down on a twisty country road for example? |

No to the alignment question. Just unbolt and bolt it on.
Strut braces make a fair difference to the feel of a car. It stops the strut tops from moving and chassis twisting. Therefore u can feel what the suspension is doing easier. Plus when your chassis twists the alignment of your suspension goes out of kilter. Therefore not working the way it was designed to. The more your car is set up for handling IE lower stiffer suspension and anti roll bars. The more difference u will notice by fitting one. But it will make a difference to a standard car. The single brace is mainly for people who have the Gt braces already and dont want a full brace. But u can just fit the single bar if u like which will be a definite improvement. Then u can always fit Gt braces at a later date. Either mine or ipd's ones. Obviously the all in one brace is the ultimate one for stiffening things up. I will be making a lower brace in the near future which work along side the strut braces. Together they make a massive difference to how the front end of the car feels. I've made both for the 7/9 cars (check out the threads in the 7/9 section) and everyone I've heard back from says they made a big difference. I made some for mine originally, and I have to say it felt like a different car on the front end. Hope that's answered your questions |

i got this brace now on my car, it's a night and day difference even with relatively stock setup. If anyone has practical question let me know, happy to help. This brace will soon be put through it's passes during a track test day

Are there any disadvantages? Do the bars make any real difference to accessibility to the engine for example? Like Stephen Edwin, I would like to think passenger comfort could be improved as wel as a more secure 'feel' to the steering. I'm usually a fairly sedate driver when I have passengers, but despite that I have once or twice been accused of 'throwing the car around bends'! The car is an entirely unmodified Torslanda, by the way.
