B230 camshaft advise
Whats the best cam to use on a B230FK engine? I believe it comes with a "T" cam? From what i have read the "T" cam is somewhat pants.
Any help would be great Dave

I think you would be suprised what can be achieved from the T. They seem to make a nice driveable car with the boost and fuel dialed up

V
I liked the V cam in mine (from a 740 B230E). A lot lot better than a T for sure with still a smooth idle, better torque. Depends what you're after really. You should get a V cam fairly easily and they're not too dear plus it will still be non-interference. If you want to go madder, lots more revs ( but interference) and dearer try an RSI stage 2 or IPD turbo cam.

I had 297 bhp 267whp with a t cam and stock ecus too .but if you want a revy engine then the v cam is the best stock cam in the uk mate.the dyno runs on the performance thread was on a t cam and stock ecus and that car was very quick too.i also managed to melt a td clutch conversion on the rollers too lol.then I put the ttv racing flywheel and 850r clutch and no more slipping .

what i never could understand was how the B230FK could possibly have less BHP than a B230E ! It isnt as if the head is strangled like the B234F is with it's manifold . ..

Ok to be honest the B230FK Turbo is 5 bhp down on the B23E non turbo and 40 nm of torque extra over the non turbo , but when you take into account the extra weight and cost and extra fuel usage what is the point other than for towing ? Actualy Volvo never badged the B230FK as Turbo , it was a way of making it feel like a 2.3 to drive so similar it's competitors i believe .

Yes very true what they should of done was put the 15g on the 940 but then it would of been too much of a competitor for the 850 t5 and proberly faster too lol.and we couldn't have that could we
