You've hit the nail on the head:
1. We would need a written assurance from the dealer that they will extend our period for a ‘no cost’ rejection until a specified date or until they have attempted the fix, whichever comes sooner. I am not sure I will get that assurance.
2. Be quick though, I only have a few days before my 30 day window for rejection closes.

I feel for you, but I would also say one thing in addition. £70,245. That's a lot of shekels. A lot. You could have a top specification V90 CC with EVERY option box ticked and still have a lot of change to spare. That's just one example and, of course, as we know on the thread, there are others.

If it were me, I would reject. Holly may be great in every other respect, but if she has an illness not fully diagnosed ...

I'm so sorry to hear that Arianne.

Car ownership for me is all about confidence in the car (however expensive, beautiful or plush it may be). If I was in your shoes, all I would ever hear when driving around was the rubbing noise and that would send me crazy. I'd also be concerned about consequences of failure. To make a sound, things have to rub, things rubbing cause friction, friction causes heat, and eventually somethings got to fail? Wouldn't want that at 70mph on the motorway.

I'd quit your losses whilst you can. Reject, get a full refund and leave the dealer on best possible terms. I'd then be tempted to lease something reasonable for a year....see how the car market performs and what new releases are on the near horizon and then jump back into your "dream car" (whatever that is at the time.....and who knows the Velar or FPace fix might be sorted by then and you can jump back into JLR with confidence).

Those are my thoughts...for what they're worth....

Good luck and best wishes.....

Sorry to hear this.

If the Velar is your ideal car, is there really no 20" wheels that you would find acceptable from a looks point of view ?

If not and you reject, you had previously said ( not sure whether tongue in cheek or serious ) that it would be a Skoda Superb 4*4. Would you not consider a "jacked up" estate, personally I think the V90CC and A6 allroad are both very handsome cars, and would give you better off-road capabilities that you sometimes need.

You said in the past you didn't want a 4 pot 2 litre engine which would rule out the V90, but the A6 comes with some great V6 engines. ( there's also an Merc E-Class all-terrain, or something, as well ).

The suggestion above to lease for a year and see what happens might be a good shout - so an A6 allroad 272 bhp ( or 320 bhp bi-turbo !! ) on lease it is. Job done !

The solution is surely staring you in the face!? These cars clearly don’t work on 21 inch wheels!

I agree, but unfortunately we seem to be in an era when rims are getting larger and tyre profiles lower. A triumph of fashion over engineering.

Audi A6 Allroad Sport BiTDi. 320bhp. List £56,415. Probably a discount. Plenty of headroom for options. A serious machine.

At the risk of stating the obvious, this makes the Velar (and even dare I say it the F-Pace) look a tad expensive. I know it's German, but the A6 has been around for quite a few years with many revisions. Well-established engineering and technology.
