Default Brake failure message

This problem has now occurred 3 times but with no real rhyme or reason. First time it happened after it had been driven for 5 minutes, then parked up for 20. After that I drove the car on a 5 hour trip and zero problem. It happened again after being driven 200 yards then again being driven 10 mins. The weird thing is the wipers stay on eve when turned off, the indicators /hazards stop working, the washers stop as well. There is nothing wrong with the brakes. It also comes up with power steering needing servicing message. All basically very random unconnected stuff. After 10 mins it seems to sort itself. What could the fault be and what's the best suction to sort it. I'm concerned it's gonna do it somewhere it could be potentially dangerous.

Get the battery and alternator performance checked out with a multimeter then do these simple checks and/or get the fault code read.
