Default Tow bar advice xc90

Hi, I have recently bought a manual XC90 D5 2007 . Pleased with it so far, I want to have a tow bar fitted but would like some advise from forum members. I am happy to have a fixed tow bar but wondered if these interfere with the parking sensors? I have heard swan neck tow bars are OK?. Also do you have to have special relay to fit into the vehicles wiring? If not is it advisable?

Thanks in advance

The tow bars will not interfere with the parking sensors. it is not that easy for the electrics.i have gone for the dedicated bits from volvo which is the towing module plus what plug you need 7 pin or 13 pin.
i paid £120 plus.there is also a software down load for variouse bits ie fogs and traction speak with your dealer for the beat route
hope that helps

Thanks Mike, pleased the fixed tow bar will still allow the parking sensors to work. This will save some cash, only to be spent on dedicated electrics! Only want a single socket for a camping trailer,

There are other company's that supply dedicated 12n kits for your car, but they will not switch off the reversing sensors or the fog lights.
I guess its up to you to decide what you need and how much you want to spend.
A quick search on the bay of fleas will give you several company's.

On my XC90 which came with a towbar fitted the electrics have been installed using scotchlocks and a bypass relay. This is a much cheaper way of doing it, and it does work.....

Howvere when I installed a towbar on my brother in laws XC90 we used a dedicated wiring kit from ebay, its amazingly simple to install and looks a lot neater. It also gives me more confidence that all will stay working where as with scotch locks it doesn't take much for one of the connections to come loose which can be a headache to find.

Hope that helps,

Sam
