Hi,
I am looking for front Nivomat for my XC70 2008. Any suggestion/advice? Thank you very much. Luca |

I thought Nivomats were only fitted at the rear as they designed to compensate for loads at the back end? Is it perhaps 4C you have?

Thanks for your message. In my model I can chose three different settings: Comfort, Sport and Advance. The response of the car is different in terms of engine and stiffness of suspension. So I think all the four shock absorbers are Nivomat? Cheers, Luca |

http://support.volvocars.com/uk/cars...a801e801fce95c nivomat shocks were only ever fitted to the rear of the car and are self adjusting according to the load being carried, no user adjustment is possible. |

What king of shock absorbers whould I look for then? Are they easier and cheaper to find? Again, thanks. And sorry for the replicated reply. I am still too new to formums in general. Cheers, Luca |

A good place to start is to identify why they need replacing. The main fault with any type of shock absorber / damper is the seal fails and leaks oil. With with earlier S80/S60/V70 you are looking at somewhere over £300 each and the best price was often found by contacting Monroe directly as they make them. Even then, they only tend to make them in small production runs when they have orders for enough.
Changing front shock absorbers is generally a job left to a garage who's got a decent press to compress the strut to release the spring and shocker. If it were me, I'd let your local independant Volvo specialist source and fit the parts for you. |
