Bi-Xenon replacement bulbs

Hi all,

I need some new bulbs as one has gone, but i am slightly confused as to what to get.
When i bought the car they had a nice white/blue tint(looks like a 6000k) but i found a spare bulb in the boot put it in and it is yellowy/white.
Now what are people putting in their cars when replacing them or what can you recommend as i want to keep the blueish tint.
I have had a quick forum search but i have not found anything and am getting more confused.
I have been trawling E-bay and found plenty advertised, but when looking at the box the spare came in i noticed it says 85V, which i assume is 85 volts not the standard 12 volt, so when i put that in the search it does not give you an option to what colour you can choose just 'xenon standard'
Like i said i am confused and need some help.

The OEM colour temp is 4300K which will look slightly yellow/green white light.
This will provide maximum lumens.
6000K is more blueish white light with slightly less lumens but hardly noticeable.

It is recommended to replace the xenon bulbs in pairs as they colour shift over time.

The 85V is the start up voltage I would think, as the car battery will only put out around 12V.

What car is it?

P1 stnadard bulbs when delivered are Phillips 85122. They cost a fortune a piece from Volvo or something like £50 off eBay.

I was behind an XC90 owner in the queue at the parts desk last year who was remonstrating with the parts manager over the cost of a replacement Xenon bulb. The dealer wanted £110 for it. Not understanding the implications of having Xenon lights the owner asked if he couldn't just put a £5 halogen bulb from Halfords in instead. The parts manager then replied, "I'll go and check but I don't think you can."

I struggled not to laugh heartily but politely broke the bad news to the guy in the queue that it was an unfortunate side effect to having decent headlamps.

That is amusing!
Dealer prices are a tad expensive for these bulbs. It pays to do a little shopping around & knowing what you're looking for helps.

I replaced my Bi-xenons the other week, did both as the colours where different. Mine where philips xenstart (D1S) bulbs and cost £27 each (volvo quoted me £150 each) the ones i got where the same make model and colour as the factory set.

D1S have a silver box on the back that cant be disconnected
D2S are just plain xenon bulbs with no extra attachments

Colour temp 4300K is OEM and is very light blue/ white
6000k is "blue" and you loose some light output

As an additional note, the lights start of at 25,000v then drop down to around 80v at a VERY low amperage. just ensure you have the lights in the off position and the keys out of the ignition and insure the lights are not lit when you remove them

Over a year now on £15-a-pair ebay ones with no problems at all.

Easy to fit in the C70 and obvious which way round etc, so beats the dealer option by quite a bit.
