V50 New owner questions
Hi All,
I just collected a used V50 1.6D Drive S/S, first registered in May 2010. I am really pleased with it but I have a couple of questions. The Start/Stop system is not cutting the engine in traffic. I have read that when the system battery is low, the start/stop system may be deactivated. This would make sense as the car was at the dealer for a few weeks. Is this perhaps the case? Also, does anyone know when the active bending headlights were introduced as standard on the V50 SE Lux? My car does not have them. However it is listed in the 2011 brochure (I can't find a 2010 issue) and was listed on the car details by the dealer. I am a bit dissapointed it does not have this feature, but other wise really like the car. Thanks for any replies! Last edited by V50 2010; Jun 21st, 2011 at 17:11. Reason: grammar |

Once started if you're in slow traffic, it may not stop until you get above 5-7mph. The 2011 model does have the bending headlights - They were great in Ireland - winding roads - really impressed. |

regarding stop/start the requirements list is usually huge, beyond the battery, the engine has to be fully warm, and all sorts chances are it will never cut in i have only ever seen two cars do it one a c30 drive
the 2010 c30 facelift could have them so they were available as for the v50 i would think so. retrofitting is not the easiest thing i do not know if it is even possible with bendies. |

make sure your battery health is more than 76% anythingbelow that it wont work, also remove (bms)battery monitoring sensor, multiplug then refit it,its at battery earth lead also worth removing battery earth lead for 30 seconds and refit then retest stop/start but importantly make sure charged fully

Yep ditto....my car is also a 2010 1.6 start/stop SE Lux, I bought it in August this year and the start stop wasnt working. There are indeed a list of preset conditions, battery voltage, aircon load etc etc.
I rang the supplying dealer. They recommended disconnecting the main battery earth lead for 10 minutes. Lo and behold the start/dtop started working as advertised and has done since. As for bendy lights, never had them, mine isnt fitted with them either so I dont miss them. As for retrofitting them, I reckon its a big expensive job as you will have to replace the headlight units, switch and no doubt a software download will be needed. Hello Ajaycad,
Thanks for your battery disconnect tip. I just did this and the Stop Start on my C30 is working again. I don't know how many posts I have got through to get to this point! rgds, Graham Hamilton |

My 2011 V50 SE Lux came with the active headlamps, however they were optional on the 2012 C30 SE Lux

PS to last message - Stop Start stopped again after just one week - disconnected main battery earth for just a few minutes and it has returned. Anyone experienced similar?
