I thought this when i got mine - very rattly.
I've a T3 1.5 which doesnt have balance shafts - sounds almost diesely. |

Thats completely normal it is the very high pressure fuel pump which happens to be on top of the engine and the alloy engine cover amplifies it . I would describe it as a clattery sound . it should be considerably deadened by the plastic engine cover and the felt lined bonnet when shut.

Done a bit of investigation, turns out some of the plastic clips on the timing cover were snapped/missing, so the timing cover was just rattling about in there! |

There is no way anyone can diagnose by remote control of course .. A pair of ears at the scene are always the best way 👍
