960 suspension
The rear suspension on my 97 960 estate is badly in need of a rebuild, with 265k in the clock the bushes are shot, Ive lowered if with Gaz coilovers and it bangs and rattles over any imperfections in the road, question is do I pull the whole axle off and rebuild it with fresh bushes (and a 1065 diff if I can find one) or bin it and install a 940 setup, Ive seen a thread on Retro rides where someone did this without to much hassle, panhard rod mount and 940 tank.
I figured all new bushes on the IRS will get me back to factory comfort etc but the plan is to get more power from the engine at some point and a 940 rear end would be much more flexible in terms of spring options and damping, most have LSDs too?? |

The IRS is not so simple to get an IRS for. Mine is very firm on the coilovers and no noise from it at all (140k)
Non of the 940's came with a LSD but they are readily available. I have seen 940's converted to IRS so going the other way is possible |
