240 DL For Sale
Genuine one owner (my Dad) since November 1983. This is an original 52,000 mile 240 which has always been garaged and maintained.
My Dad stopped driving the car last September. It has tax until the end of November 2009 and a new MOT. Comes with new set of Pirelli tyres on refurbished steel rims. Everything works, the front door storage bins are missing and there are a couple of marks on the paint. There is a scuff on the plastic bumper and a repair to the glass on the near side headlamp lens. The drivers seat is slightly worn. The car is in remarkable condition and I am asking for £1,500. That does look like a lovely car, have the wheels been sprayed? Alas in my opinion about £1000 over optimistic in the current climate I'm afraid!

Hi torsten,
Yes, took the wheels off a while ago, removed old original and cracked Pirellis and had the wheels blasted & painted then fitted new Pirellis. The current climate is quite another matter. Anyone with a newish motor to maintain would appreciate the huge economies that can enjoyed running an older and easy DIY vehicle. Mine:1991 960 24V Estate. 1974 Mk1 Escort 1300E. |

Have to agree with Torsten here... re the price. Unfortunately (or maybe that should be fortunately) there are a fair few good survivors of the lower spec saloon models about and prices never seem to get above high hundreds even for really nice stuff.
Although I agree with your sentiments re. older cars and 'reliability' if only because the The MOT 'cat test' on anything post '93 is like a visit to the dentist each year! will it pass? Which bit of the dozens of potential sensors, cat, pipes, etc etc might be faulty if it fails- got that fun again next week - it's due again - cross fingers and pray! I'm thinking about replacing my 1996 850CD with a 240GLT (anyone fancy a swap!?) if a nice one comes up local-ish (Surrey) for exactly that reason! |

nice example although I think you have over valued it. Have a look at the concourse 244DL I bought on the other thread - that was £750. OK, it has done 150k but well maintained 240s with service historys do starship enterprise mileages and most of us here won't consider a car under 200k as high mileage

Dose look like a nice one, no one seames to be spending any money at the moment, I would give 500 for it. I bought a 1980 42000 mile one owner mint for 350 2 years ago. Good luck with the sale.
Would be a shame if it went into daily service as you sugest, should be garaged and used for special ocassions and shows. |
