Glad you got sorted, out of curiosity what year is your 940? I pointed someone else in the direction of Lancaster who has a 95 940 SE Classic and they said it was too new! That and the fact he didn't have a second car to use of course.

Its a very late 97................... Lancaster came back with it over 20 years old, so all is good.
To be honest I was getting a little worried it was too new. I had been knocked back on a good few on line searches and calls but got a result with Lancaster through "quotezone"

Hmmm, that's good news, thanks! I'll point him in the direction of this thread as he's still within his 14 day "cooling off" period so if he can get some sense out of Lancaster this time then that could potentially save him some money.

Has anyone got any modifications on their Volvos and still getting cheap insurance?

I'm paying around £450 for a 28 year old with 10 years with no claims on a 940 estate (97) with a B230FT, 16T turbo and full 3" stainless exhaust, manual boost controller and poly bushes at the front.

My policy is BHP limited (means I can have any mods I want without a price increase as long as it won't go over the BHP limit), so I had to up it to 250bhp just to be sure I didn't go over the 200bhp limit I had previously when I turn the boost up again (cost me £50 extra hence £450 instead of around £400). The company is brentacre and I've insured modified cars with them before but I feel I'm way over paying now I'm quite a bit older.

Rang my previous company up I had the old viva on and they said my 98 model was too new to insure with them
Last year I tried to insure my 1996 940 2.3ti Classic with the company that does insurance for the club, only they would not give cover in my post code
OL9, this year they did offer cover providing the car was kept in a garage overnight, I have finished up this year with Footman James, fully comprehensive, for the fully comp was £158 .77, then the extra's, agreed value of £3500=£10, salvage retention=£15, legal protection=£25, full breakdown cover with home start=£80, arrangement fee=£15, so in total £303.77.

Yeah, my '97 940 is on a classic policy. £115 last year (2k mile limit), £170 this year. I'm about 30, 7 years NCB. I just use the online quotes and go for the cheapest, never going to claim anything anyway.

I don't think your policy is way off to be honest. Each mod, even a genuine Volvo tow bar or genuine Volvo alloys adds ££ to your policy price. Thank your lucky stars its not a bmw, as even their genuine bmw parts added to a standard car go through the roof.

With the BHP limit its only the increase in BHP that adds to the price, as long as I don't go over 250bhp I can have anything I want, even a roll cage (been there done it on my old Polo) and it costs the same.
