Default Engine system service required message

My 2001 s60 2.0t has 97450 miles on it.
It was just serviced by a main stealer (never again) and 4 days later the turbo hose at the front of the engine worked (or was loosened) loose and scared the life out of me at 70mph on an a road with no hard shoulder so I had to limp it into a car park and call assistance who tightened the clip.
The car ran fine until today when the ‘engine system service required’ message appeared.
Does anyone know if the turbo hose coming loose would have damaged the site flow meter or affected the engine in any way?

On the off chance the stealer hasn’t reset the service interval reminder on the dash I’d reset it and see if it reappears buddy

Cheers Chris. I’ll give it a go.
That’s the last time I go near a main dealer!
Nothing but a nightmare dealing with them.

I think the problem with main dealers is when your car is over say 5 years old they don’t really wanna help us too much
It’s not easy trying to find a good independent either
Best of luck with it though buddy

'engine system service' is indicating a fault somewhere - likely a sensor. You'll need to get it on a code reader to determine where to look.

The dealer will (should) have reset the 'time for regular service' message.

Engine system service required could be flagged up by a number of reasons.
It comes on mine when I have a cruise control activated with a faulty brake servo sensor
If I have a tcv air flow issue.
If I have an air leak in the intake system.
It also came on with a knackered lambda sensor.
I drove around with a split in the short hose linking my turbo to over engine charger pipe.

Ive also read it could be the petrol cap is not clicked on correctly.... although it did not solve my message.

My advice get the code read! Should give you a start.
You could always disconnect the battery and a look the systems to reset.

Just an update. I just picked up the car from DMW specialists and they have confirmed that the engine system service required that flagged up was an ETM problem.
I am now looking at a £500+ should I go ahead with the repair.

What etm is it.
What repairs are being done and who is doing it?
Have you looked at the diy contactless modification?

I've been told exactly same thing some 2 years ago, by several different people- stealerships and indies alike.

I sourced used ETM on fleabay, bough it..

Stripped old one and man.. Was it dirty..

Cleaned it and decided to give it a go.

Car runs beautifully since.

And I still have that spare ETM.. Paid some £60-70 for it.

Edit.

Oh, and I'm in colliers wood. 200yards from DMW..
