Steering high pressure hose part identification
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has info or advice on replacing a hose number 8623860 (written on pipe). I searched online but not much info. There's lots of similar parts on skandix and volvopartswebstore but not the same number. It looks very similar to this (found by searching v70 8623860): There's a small leak where a small clamp attached it to the subframe under the car. The hydraulic hose is connected from the steering rack, then curves around a few tight bends under the subframe then up and to a rubber section connected to the top of the reservoir. (see pic) I've not replaced a hose before - anything to watch out for? I presume I'll need to get the part from volvo directly? Car info: V70 5dr estate D5 D5244T engine 2002 FC=1 241192 - chassis number |

I've searched online and found out the new part number should be 30665040.
Special order around £95.00. Can anyone check this and confirm? Many Thanks, Gary. |

Was easy job.
Used syringe to suck out as much power steering fluid as I could. Disconnected the bracket under engine after removing sump drip tray. Top rubber connection was a little ceased - twisting pipe grips on rubber freed it up. Lower joint from pipe to Rack was easily disconnected. Normal spanner. Could reach after I disconnected one side of the engine mount bar that transverses the engine at the top. Put cloth in place to catch any fluid leaking as I disconnected the pipe connections. The old one dropped out bottom easily. Fitting new one was just as easy. Had to transfer over plastic clamps that as used to clip the thin wheel sensor cable to the pipe. Used new hose clip on rubber pipe as the old one would have been hard to refit. I've got wooded ramps that I used so don't know if I could do this without jacking up the car. Refilled the power steering reservoir with new fluid and started engine briefly, then topped up again. Did that a few times till level seemed OK. Checked for leaks on rack connection and Reservoir. Parts called a cooling coil as it routes under the car in a pattern to cool fluid. Last edited by Gazzamit; May 3rd, 2018 at 17:59. |
