Default Replacement windscreen

Just got off the phone with Autoglass...
I need the windscreen replacing and they have told me that the city braking system will need to be re calibrated after the work is completed..

Any one have any idea what the cost is likely to be or is it something I can do with Vida..

It's all the systems behind the windscreen that need doing but I dunno if you can do it yourself

If you are having the screen done under insurance, then that must also cover the recalibration of the systems that rely on the windscreen ............... they insured it ........... so the cost is their problem.

My argument would be .............. if you have a new screen, the insurance company picks up the cost of the rain sensor ..................

He means as recalibration is needed as part of fitting a new screen then this will be part of the claim and your insurers will be bound to cover the cost of the recalibration.

When the new screen is fitted, a new rain sensor is also fitted ............ the insurance company pays the bill ............. so whatever actions are necessary to ensure that the windscreen is fitted correctly is the responsibility of the insurers to pick up the tab.

CORRECTLY is paramount too , do they heat up their Bonding glue in an oven to 80 C before they use it? Do they prime the glass before fitting I have never seen an independent glass fitter do this ... Most do the whole job in 20 minutes ...

Is this your experience, or your opinion?

Why is it necessary to heat up the PUR?

Hi Clan, I know that the windscreen is an integral part of a vehicle's safety structure - I remember that advert with an S60 being lifted up in the air by a crane just by its windscreen. What is a typical job time for the fitting of a Volvo windscreen? As you have said Volvo do have a process for fitting a new windscreen-what does it entail? Thanks!
