S40 Matters
I've just bought a 1998 (R) S40 CD Auto without floor mats! Are floor trays standard equipment on this model? If so, how much are they? Will trays from any other Volvo model fit?
Regarding driver's seat adjustment, is there a correct method for doing this for optimum comfort? The handbook merely describes the procedure for adjustment, but doesn't state the best setting which is ergonomically correct. Is the Haynes manual the only technical book for this model, or do Volvo supply one? dc.burrows@btopenworld.com Thanks for your help in anticipation. |

RE: S40 Matters
in answer to you questions, the rubber floor trays are not standard, they are an accesory which can be purchased from any volvo dealer, or eurocarparts. regarding the seat adjustment, it is made to adjust to suit your own personel comfort, its a case of trial and error to get the optimum position. haynes are the only printer of the s/v 40 manual. paul 4 forty |

RE: S40 Matters
Many thanks, Paul. Do you know how much Volvo charge for the set of floor trays?

RE: S40 Matters
Hi.
I recommend the plastic 'tray' type floormats for the x40. They are easier to remove and clean than the carpet variety. The mats made for the x40s are made specifically for them. They are shaped to be a perfect fit. As for if mats from any of the other Volvos will fit in the x40s, I can only guess no as the other Volvos have bigger footwells than the x40s. The cost for the Volvo plastic 'tray' mats is £60+VAT for all 4. At least it was when I bought them about 2 years ago. I bvelieve the carpet ones are about the same Later, Dan. |

RE: S40 Matters
mornin all
i have the carpet mats in the V40, and when they get a little muddy they just get chucked in the washing machine and they come out lovely. have noticed that the drivers one tends to move forward slightly though after a bit of driving, shane they arnt attached to the seat rails like in the golf !! later scott |

RE: S40 Matters
I fond the problem with my V40 mats is that the plastic bits they attach to can move an inch or so, so whilst the mat stays put in relation to the clips, it does move. Quite disconcerting at times...

RE: S40 Matters
The plastic tray ones don't do that as they are moulded to the shape of the bottom of the footwell.

RE: S40 Matters
But do they look as nice? I've never understood the whole thing of having ugly looking stuff (and I haven't seen these trays so I am not making comments ;) ) covering really nice looking stuff in the name of keeping it looking like new. It doesn't matter as it looks awful anyway!

RE: S40 Matters
Apparently, Euro Car Parts only sell universal rubber mats - not hard plastic floor trays. Cheers.
