Any more than 25 around town with a T5 and there's a fault with the accelerator pedal or you need heavier boots

Default Update-

I made my return journey from The highlands back to Kent yesterday.

I brimmed the car in Glencoe and it gave me a theoretical range of 980 miles

The journey home is 550 miles

I stuck to national speed limits on the 'A' roads and set the cruise at 73mph (70 actual) for all the motorway that would let me. There were several long stretches of M6 with average 50mph limits, I'd guess in total about 30 miles.

Average MPG showing at 55.8mpg

Showing a tank range of 335 miles left

And the needle just under half way

I'll run the rest of the fuel down locally and see how those actual figures stand up when I refuel.

I think a realistic 800 miles is possible in real world conditions driving carefully etc.

Pretty impressive for a 13 year old big old lump with a 2.4 diesel under the bonnet.

I'm very impressed!

Will be interesting to see what you get for the tankfull.

I've been recording mine for 52,000 miles and the best ever measured is 49.9mpg, with the worst being 36.1mpg. Long term average is 43.1 (was 41.3 before remapping nearly 40,000 miles ago).

The OBC figures vary wildly: most accurate was +0.1 (displayed 36.2 for a measured 36.1) which was largely urban driving; most inaccurate was +11.3 (displayed 54.6 for a measured 43.3) mainly motorway driving on Tesco diesel (usually use Shell). Long term average error is +4.5mpg.

Official figures are something like 33 (urban), 54 (extra urban and 43.5 (combined) so my average is pretty close.

I'm looking at some of the lower figures on this thread and wondering how much attention people are paying to their tyre pressures?

Sorry for crashing the V70 thread, but I usually manage around 630 miles from a tank in my XC70 the best I have managed was 700 miles from a tank......... to be totally accurate it was 698.6 but I didn't fancy risking the 20 miles it was to the next fuel station.

Ours quotes an Eco tyre pressure of 38 psi all round which I have set. We got 55mpg coming down from Glasgow today.

I recently filled up & did a motorway trip.

My mate was in convoy, behind me in his porsche. I sent him this to wind him up...
