slow central locking
Hello,
I'm reasonably new to XC90 ownership so maybe this is normal, but first thing in the morning the central locking is very slow to unlock , which is ok most of the time but not some much fun when the weather is bad. So does anyone know is this normal or is it a sign of a problem ? Cheers Mark. |

If the car is not new then key fob batteries would be my first thought. Cheap enough to try.

Could do but once you have opened it once it opens and closes quickly , also the car does make some noises like its waking up so it has recieved the signal to unlock it justs takes a while to do it so I can't see it being the batteries in the key fob. Just wondered if it was standard

I have never had this issue, rarely use the key as we have keyless entry, but both the key and the keyless entry unlock pretty much instantly.
I seem to recall a while back in this forum a member had a similar issue, which turned out to be symptomatic of a bigger issue with one or more comms modules in the car. Odd if it only happens in the morning, how about at other times of day if the car has been left locked for a while? :wq

Thanks for the response, it's the same with keyless entry and seems to happen when it has been left locked for a while.
As ir sounds like it's not normal I might have to be a bit more scientific with it and see how long it has to be idle for and how long it takes to open. Thanks again |

so far I have tried it for 2 morning and it takes about 3-4 seconds to open from grabbing the handle. It does make whirring noises imminently though. Bring on the winter that 4 seconds will seem like a long time...

Do you leave the car locked for a significant time during the day, and does it do the same when you return later on? Maybe use your phone to film this behaviour a few times, then when you take to the dealer you can show them, as I'm assuming you won't be able to replicate. :wq

Hello,
Well I ordered the batteries just in case and it works now , it must be the fact it detects the key from a distance and starts the warm up. Anyway thanks for the help and I do feel a bit silly always try the simple stuff first I suppose.. Although now it won't let me use the battery because my fuel is too old, it's complicated this Volvo ownership |
