Default On the wings of .......

As it was such a lovely day today ( well here at least ) I decided to fit my new wings as my crusty old ones were really starting to annoy me
Also just made the car look sad when I gave her a good wash and brush up

Bumper off first which is just the four nuts at the front. Very easy to do and a few days of spraying with Innotec beforehand made them come off with ease. 16mm socket with no extensions which allows you to get your hand inside behind the bumper. Car up on ramps makes it a lot easier as well. Remove indicator lenses and undo 2 bolts each side there. two at back of wing which are accessed with the door open. five along the top of wing and two behind where the bumper was on side. Remove both wipers and then scuttle to undo bolts under there and hey presto wing comes off. Replacement is the usual reverse of removal. I just did them all loosely to make sure wings were all lined up before tightening up. Also treated surface rust on inner wing before refitting.

Whilst bumper was off I replaced one of my horns with the one from my breaker car as the new ones connectors had rusted away after a year Stupid place to put horns and I will probably re locate in the future. Very satisfying day all round

Excellent work and result Mark! Did you angle grinder recover? Somtimes they have a thermal fuse that self-resets so you might not have to replace it just yet.

No Dave ,It's well and truly fubar'd I'm going to get a nice new DeWalt cordless one as I already have the spare batteries from the impact wrench that I bought. Means I can just buy body only so a lot cheaper

I'll need it for when I clean up Diff etc so it will get good use. Also any excuse to buy new toys

When you said they had a big hole in them I didn't realise how big it would be!

They were pretty nasty Luke. I suspect at some point mudflaps have been screwed into wings without treating the screw holes correctly.

All nice now and thanks again for collecting them for me Luke

That's a good thought on the cause.

You're very welcome, I loved the drive out there and back and will go that way just for the drive again.
