2008 XC60 sound amplifier? Subwoofer install
Hi all! Greetings from Estonia.
Has anyone tried to install subwoofer to a 2008 xc60 with standard sound system? I just spent like 5 hours trying to do it but with no progress. So I tried to identify the place of amplifier. There is no information about it on the internet. Itt not under the seats, not in the trunk, not in the back of center console. I would use hi-low converter. Last thing I would do is buy more wire and carrie these wires through the doors to a trunk. Best, Karl |

I fitted an ETON 10 USB subwoofer to my XC60. It uses high level speaker level input and I spliced into the wires from the multiway plug in the amplifier below the driver's seat (RHD car) using an adaptor that I made up from a CT10VL05 adaptor harness. This meant that I didn't need to cut any wires on the car's wiring loom.
I got power from the towbar wiring in the trunk. This gave a really worthwhile improvement. However, I later upgraded the front door speakers to Audison Voce and added an Audison AP8.9 bit DSP amplifier. The final setup is similar to the upgrade from another forum member on the same thread. The subwoofer now runs off low level input from the AP8. See https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=288566 I could probably get the wiring colours for making up the adpator for the CT10VL05 harness if you can't find the info online.

I have already read this thread. Unfortunately, I can't locate amplifier. I have already looked under the drivers seat, passenger seat, trunk - almost everywhere. I took off all the pillars and plastic, I even looked under the carpet (where I found water, which means I have to change my front glass). I even removed center panel. Only place where I haven't look yet is the place where AUX comes out. If it's not there, then it must be some kind of magic I must say that I have googled a lot. Like a lot lot I have two options left if I can't locate the amplifier: A) buy some wire, take B-pillars off, cut the L & R speaker wires, attach hi-low converter or B) take it to a car-electrician Best, Karl |

My car is 2014 with the high performance sound system so has a separate amplifier.
I'm not familiar with all of the different systems although your 2008 standard system may have the amplifier built into the head unit so the speaker wires may come directly from the head unit. Another option would be be to take the high level feeds for the subwoofer directly by splicing into the front speaker wires in the door or by tracing the wires back to the head unit. If you use the 10 inch Eton subwoofer that I used, you won't need a low level converter. The subwoofer accepts speaker level high level inputs so that makes it a lot easier. There is plenty of info on how to remove the door panels online. https://www.paulstravelpictures.com/...de/index.html4 Good luck.
