Definitely agree with the proportion of time spent cleaning off the winter muck and prepping them for the next season, compared to time to change. After having spent the time this year I won't actually be using them as it looks like I'm changing to a V60 at the end of the month.

Use a decent jack. A 2 ton model will do, a 3 ton model gives more stability (I prefer a Trolley jack). I never use the jack than comes with the car. As already mentioned, use a torque key.
