Is there a way to reset the computer thing so it's more accurate. I'm on a quarter of a tank and it reckons I've got 160 miles 🤣🤣
It has also run out of petrol when still showing 60 miles available.

Update on this, coasting downhill, the DIM shows 1.5 L/100km - that's 188 UK mpg, and when there is engine 'braking' it goes to 1.0 L/100km - or 282 UK mpg

That's the typical fuel sender problem. I fixed mine but the video is not very well done (an old one). Besides cleaning the potentiomenter, I also compressed a little bit the "U" portion of the float metal rod, because when it was sitting on top of the potentiometer it had a little bit of side-play, which may be the reason the gauge was getting stuck. Since this video, the gauge has been very accurate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-egNDgTdUYE

If you have vida, you can check what the 2 fuel sensors are showing, with a low tank, the passenger side of the tank should be more-or-less empty and all the remaining fuel should be in the driverside of the tank (assume RHD vehicle). |

I've got a 1999 S80, 2.4 petrol auto.
I get 20 mpg round town. I do a long run once a week, driving from Nottingham to London. 150 miles each way. I get 42.5 mpg on that run, but I tend to drive with the cruise on, minimal brake/accelerator inputs at around 55 mph. |

Just came back from a 72 hour trip to Wales and back - 832 miles total in our 2005 XC70 auto Geartronic D5 with 195K (almost 196K now).
The average trip meter mileage went from 49.2 (lots of short trips in the precious month) to 50.2. Almost all was on two lane roads as I dislike freeways and a zillion of roundabouts so lots of accelerating and braking and accelerating and braking and accelerating - you get it - not exactly easy steady driving and a lot of it up the famous Wales hills. On long trips on the continent we usually come back home with an indicated 55+(UK) mpg average - but then I am perfectly content setting the cruise at 62 mph and enjoy the scenery.. My previous 2002 V70 auto D5 produced very much the same mileage - even loaded to the gills with the sailing and boat gear we take with us.
