Hi,
Never seen the warn air feed pipe in that position either! And as he has a circular filter box attached to the carb I take it some modification of sorts has taken place. Restored? probably, but not with original components... Des. . .

The air filter box is standard volvo, and was fitted to early models up to 1978, I have seen another with the heat ducting over the fan housing like that, and he is adiment that that is origional, but I have only ever seen them under the bottom of the fan housing, we have a 77 model with this type of air cleaned and the heat ducting down low in the usual place. The model pitcured looks like a 1978 based on the round headlights with that type of srround.

I think the black finish of the wonderful 245's engine bay is the result of liberal application of aftermarket rustproofing when the car was new, which would explain in part why it still looks so nice - the Ziebart sticker in the rear window gives it away

The air filter box is original, and so is the pre-heater pipe - i have seen several cars with it in this position (all 1978 model year cars)
I do have a suspicion the car has been restored though. Looks like paint in the engine bay rather than underseal to me. I have a couple of photos of this car at the 2007 BKV Steve
