Exclamation CEM Central locking and SRS Airbag service urgent!

Good evening!

Complete forum virgin of any kind, so apologies if I’m posting this in a wrong location! I had looked on the forum for an answer to my problem, but could not so here goes...

I have a C30 1.6D Ecoboost 10 plate. It’s covered 130k miles and still runs like a dream! Fsh and cambelt changed at 60k, fantastic. However I was driving home from work the other day, and I got a message ‘Reduced Engine Performance’. This message clears itself and comes and goes as I drive, although no power is lost (defo not going into limp mode). I google this, and this wonderful forum popped up, to which I registered. Now I had a mechanic friend plug into my car and the findings were a little odd. There are a lot of electrical faults, including all of my lights it read ‘faulty signal’ which I know not to be true as all of my lights work. It also said the same for my accelerator position, which again was untrue! This being the case my friend recommended I unplug the CEM and give it a clean and a check over, being it sits under the glove box a chance of something to come loose is possible. So I unplugged it all and checked it over, seemed fine! I plugged it all back together, carefully and correctly. Now the message has cleared, hooray! But not quite, I now have an airbag message that will not clear and my central locking is no longer working! I have to admit in my stupidity, I did not disconnect the battery but I’m not sure if that would be the issue? It’s due for a service in Jan 2020 so if worst comes to the worst, they can help me out. But I’d rather understand why this has happened, and how I could fix it myself. I can provide pictures of the diagnostic if that helps, any advice about the car or this forum is welcomed!

Often, these kinds of issues are due to a failing battery or alternator. Although possibly not in your case.

If it were me - I'd disconnect the battery & recheck the connectors for correct fitment. I'd also check the fuses. Then I'd reconnect the battery & check again. You may struggle to clear the airbag fault light without a main dealers help tho'.
