Default Excellent service in the Birmingham area

My V40 (1.8XS 2000 90k miles) started making very expensive sounding grating and whining noises a couple of days ago - the 700 miles last week on holiday to the Lake District can't have helped!

Rather than take the car into a local main dealer, I took the advice of a neighbour (another happy Volvo owner) and took the car into Lawrie's of Halesowen. They had the car into the workshop straightaway and were quick to point out specks of swarf around the alternator - and I was advised not to drive the car in case any further harm was done.

As the car had done almost 10k miles since the last service I asked them to do a service while it was with them, to reattach the plastic undertray under the engine (driving through floods had dislodged it) and to fix the leaking washer bottle. They phoned me to say that the front brake pads needed changing (comments were made at the last service that the pads would last until the next service).

The car was with them for a day and a half, they fitted a new alternator, did the 10k service, fixed the washer bottle, changed the front pads, sorted the undertray and gave the car a wash and vacuum - all for just over £600!

I hate to think what this would has cost at a main dealer!

The car is now driving much better than it has for ages - I am very pleased with their service.

They are: Lawries's of Halesowen
