Hi All,

I'm having some difficulties with my Volvo C30 (2008) relating to a faulty alternator signal and wondered if anyone had any ideas on a possible solution.

So essentially I've done:

Cleared code: ECM-1632 Alternator Faulty signal. Came back on after turning ignition off and on.

Tried switching alternator twice. Current one is a used volvo one for c30.

Changed battery to Bosch.

Changed alternator regulator fuse (under bonnet) - all seems fine there.

Checked some contacts on CEM under passenger side panel. Overall seems in really good condition.

I'm not sure what to do as a next step and wondered if anyone had any ideas.

Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Depends which engine you've got. Some have digital alternator control via LIN bus from the CEM, the others have analogue control via a voltage from the ECU.

Thanks for the reply, it's a 1.6 petrol. Is that enough info to determine the control type? Thanks again.
