Default Timing Belt Service Interval

Can anyone advise how often timing belt should be changed on a '03 V70 D5? My car has done 54K and now 7 years old so must be getting close.

I plan to have my (non Volvo) garage do in next month or so anyway but they initially stated should be every 100K or 10 years whichever comes first which seems a bit long to me but they asked me to check with the knowledgeable experts here.

Thanks - John

96,000 miles or 10 years.
My S60 MY03, has 52K on the clock.
I've just got all the bits, and intend to do it in the next couple of months.
I believe however, on the earlier D5's like ours, the 96k and 10 years are pretty accurate.

I checked on this just before Easter. The dealer told me 96000 or 8 years. My 02 D5 only has 54K on the clock, but a friend and I will be changing the timing and aux belts, etc. this weekend.

I have a 56 plate D5 and it says in the book 108K miles before its due. Thats when im getting mine done. If your not doing a lot of miles consider getting the water pump done at the same time. If it fails your in the same boat as the belt snapping and its all exposed when its getting done.

Thanks all for the responses.

I will get it done soon and I will suggest the water pump be renewed. It doesn't cost me anything financially as I undertake I.T. work for the garage as a favour to the owner and he now owes me big time.

Rgds John

Make sure you change the tensioner and the idler pulley as well. I had a tensioner fail after less than 60Kmiles (that's if the garage that I paid to change it really did change it!), and the result cost me big money to repair.
