Default Can Daytime Running Lights Be Turned Off

Hiya fellas,

As per title really. Is there a way of turning off the running lights. Currently I prefer to set the lights to side lights but am conscious that I need to turn them off when I park up. Any help appreciated.

Are there any other "hidden" features of the V70 facelift like can the central locking be set to activate at a given road speed or can the central locking be configured to open or close all windows.

A lot of cars have these hidden features, curious really.

Cheers

Yes. Your 2001 V70 T can have them turned off. Should be under day running lights in the manual.

Hunt around the forum for the exact guide (there is one on the S/V40 section). Same principal for your car as it is for both my S40's and my previous 2 S80's. Our latest S80 has active bixenon and those are permanently on.

In short:
1. turn ignition to the second position;
2. turn the light switch to side lights;
3. pull main beam (full beam) towards you and hold it pulled forwards, then turn the headlight switch to 0.
4. Release full beam lever.
5. turn ignition off.

That should turn off the little green light adjacent to your headlight switch (S40's have those, cant remember if our 2001 or 2003 S80 had it).
That is pretty much how to do it, but if I have missed anything, other will no doubt correct me.

Key can only be programmed for auto-locking on the post 2006 cars (current V70 et al) and is done via the menu in the centre console. You will have to do it the old fashioned way for now (finger on the switch).

That was quick fellas.

Just what I was looking for, many thanks!

Any chance of losing the seatbelt reminder on the rear view mirror?

Again, 2001 V70T.

Cheers

Yes, that would be interesting.

When I had my DLR's turned off at Volvo, I asked if the message and beeping for the seatbelt could be turned off.

They said no they would not do it on safety grounds, I said I may be exempt from wearing it for a disability?. They said I am not!!!!
How did they know!!

Anyway, the advice was to get a seatbelt buckle and leave it in place, which is very dangerous as the airbags act differently depending on if the seatbelt is in place or not!
