Like the xc60 but my favourite is still our 2001 v40 t4 se lux that we had, brilliant car.

I wouldve voted for my v70 but the latest looks like a Passat too much

I don't disagree, but the V70 is not longer a current model: out of all the current Volvo's I've tried my favourite is the V90 - although Volvo have moved this car quite a distance from the outgoing one.

I was in a Volvo dealer the other day ordering some paint for my mini V after some scrote has damaged it and I had a chance to have a proper look around the V90 and S90 and they are stunning pieces of design! However I came away surprised at the one I preferred. I always usually go for estates but the S90 looks nicer from the rear in the R-Design trim IMO, I'm not sold on the rear of the V90 and the loss of practicality from the V70 is a big put off and brings the car further away from the E-Class (still the king of estate cars IMO) and toward the A6, and 5er for interior size which is a little disappointing. They are stunning to behold though.

If I were interested in a new Volvo though I think the XC90 is the nicest of the new range in R-Design trim as it still has the majority of the looks and presence of the S & V cars but with proper Volvo practical touches. Also you can get a petrol engine in the XC which is not yet available on the others in the range.

Am uploading the pics now, back soon!

Back now

Here's the V90 they had in

Personally I don't think the blue does much for it but it is nicer in person than it looks in the picture and I've been critical of Volvo's seemingly bland colour palette lately so it's good to see something different but if I were doing an order I think the solid red stands out more but both the red and this blue are expensive cost options!

The interior is lovely, all the stuff you could want is standard but as is the way these days, the R-Design trim comes with the black roof lining which makes it very dark and the only way around it is to spec the glass roof which is disappointingly narrow and doesn't make a difference in the front as it starts behind the drivers head.

You can see the extent of the curve of the tailgate and thus reduction in load space above the wasteline of the car though the power lid and auto retracting load cover are nice touches

However even more striking despite the comparatively dull Saville Grey paint was this S90

The wheels made up much of the difference, they are massive and really fill the arches!

Boot is huge for a saloon and also power lift and close which is a nice touch

It's a mean looker

And the two together

Stunning machines buuuuut, on the other side of the showroom there was this which I think may be more suited to me :P

Hell yeah!! If only it was a factory colour lol...

Nice car.......... but:
Have you seen the price of them?
What are Volvo saying to the current v70 owners? Is it hey cough up the extra cash? Most will move onto the v60? Or is it we don't care as we are trying to get the Mercedes & jaguar crowd- so hopefully the v70 lot will be brand loyal and go to the v60?

It's a nice car but I think they have made a mistake as there isn't a direct newer model from the v70- which is a very practical affordable family car.

Im not knocking the v60 as it's a nice car and one I'm considering myself but it's not a direct replacement for the v70 and neither is the v90

They aren't really that much more expensive than the V70 was in the higher spec levels and even the Momentum models have a hell of spec on them. Lease is the way to go with these, had a special offer quote come through on one £2400 down and £180 per month all in for an S90 D4 Momentum, £190 for the R-Design and £205 for the Inscription which is mega cheap for a near £40k car. 5k miles per year though but even 10k was something like £260 per month all in and 15k just over £300 with a £16 addition per month for the V90 which would make it cheaper than its competitors but that's a hell of a special offer!!

The V60 is soon to be replaced so hopefully that will grow also and take the place of the V70 to a point.

Afraid I reaaly don't like either the S90 (which looks like an Audi A7 has had a fling with a Mazda 6) or the V90 (which looks some weird love child between BMW 5 touring, Mazda 6 and Kia Optima Estate). They have lost much of their 'Volvoness' with the sole exception of the strong shoulder line and rather sexy headlights. Also, what's this latest trend with wing mirrors sprouting from the doors rather than neatly integrated with the A pillar and window line? Yuk, yuk, yuk!

V60 is lovely though - especially the proper Polestar variant.

I have to agree I thought Audi and BMW myself. They all must use the same computer design software, because they all look so alike. When you think of Volvo most imagine a big square box shaped 240!

they have lost the load carrying capacity to the likes of Mercedes.

To be honest if I was to buy a new car it wouldn't be a brand new Volvo. I don't perceive them to be as reliable as say the rwd 200 and 700 series and built to last in this throw away era. It would probably be Toyota or lexus.

Another thing I hate with modern cars is the huge deep dashboard. I like the extra space rather than a dash that hugs/envelops you.

I presume someone on here has one of the new V90's or S90 etc.?
The tablet built within the dashboard looks incredibly laggy and slow on the youtube reviews I've seen of the cars. If that's what it's like new, I can only imagine it'll get slower with age and added software patches! Yet it already looks slow enough to drive me mad!
I presume someone on here owns one of these vehicles? Are the tablets/computers as slow and laggy as they look?

Not that I'll be buying one, I'm just curious! haha

I've not voted as I don't know what engine options are available, but if a decent sized petrol engine was available then of the options listed it'd have to be the S90.Having said that given money no object I'd buy something much, much older not newer.
