Lightbulb V50 D3 2011, Car won't start, battery or alternator?

Hi all, would appreciate some advice. Didn't use my car for a week, no previous warning symptoms, and experienced the following:

-With key in ignition, middle position, Car initially displayed a 'abs service required' warning message and abs light briefly came on
-took key out and put it back in, message disappeared, but when I tried to start the car there was no sound or anything, it just didn't work
-car then went entirely dead, no lights on the dash at all, although the dash cam was drawing power and my headlights came on (I could also use the high beam flash).
-headlights even stayed on with no key in ignition
-engine light (yellow) was permanently on, even with keys not in the ignition. This eventually turned off
-cockpit lights did work although did seem a little dim
-eventually nothing was working and the car just seemed entirely dead. No lights on dash either. Key fob didn't work for locking so had to manually lock with key in the door.

I've consulted some friends and looked online but can't seem to get a general consensus on the problem. I'd like to get some advice so I know whether to get a brand new battery installed or somehow get it towed to a garage for a bigger repair. I know nothing about cars and wouldn't know how to jump start. It's also parked on the street (bumper to bumper parking) and jump starting will be awkward as I would end up blocking the road.

I have a 2011 plate v50 on 115k miles, had been previously looked after quite well.

Weak battery causes no end of phantom error messages etc on these cars.
Get a friend to recharge it and see how it goes.
If all is then okay start saving for a new battery.

Thank you! I really hope it is the battery because otherwise it will cost me a fortune to get it to the garage. I presume some local garages offer pick up services (for a fee of course).

I will get it replaced this week and hope for the best.

For anyone wondering, the battery was absolutely screwed. Replaced it and all works fine.
